Over-Arm Coilby MorTisFor storing natural twisted rope, I use an over-arm coil, this keep the rope nice and neat, it wont get tangled and easy to undo. It also keep the rope from untwisting on you. Needed: Any rope longer then 10ft. Step 1: Find the center of your rope, fold it and create a bight Step 2: Trace back down to the tails Step 3: Lay the tails over your right hand (if right handed), and let it hang down to your elbow. Step 4: Wrap the rope around your elbow and back up to your hand. Step 5: You want to twist the two pieces of rope once around each other with the twist of the lay of rope. This helps tighten up the coil and keeps it from unraveling. Step 6: Repeat steps 4-5 as many times as needed. Step 7: When you can not make another full wrap, its time to tie it off. Take the rope halfway down between the wrist and elbow, make a 90 degree turn. And wrap a band as many times as you can around the coil of rope. And then push the bight through wrap to tie it off. Hint: To use the coil, all you have to do is pull the bight out of the wrap, and the coil will just come apart and ready for use from the bight. |
