Masterism vs. Sadism

We all know what sadism is, but you may be wondering what the heck is "Masterism." Well you won't find it in any English dictionary, or even a Bondage Discipline and SadoMasochism (BDSM) dictionary for that matter.

An "ism" is a theory or system. Thus Masterism is the theory of Mastering slaves as it pertains to BDSM. Masterism is a term that I made up to use as a comparison to differentiate between what Masters do and what sadists do.

I think we all agree there is a vast array of Master/slave (M/s) dynamics. The one I wish to address with this essay is the M/s relationship with the Master also being a sadist.

While driving down a road one evening, my slave, slave leslie, turned to me and asked why I made things so difficult sometimes. I gathered my thoughts for a moment and replied.

"It's my job as a Master to teach you how to serve me; it's my job as a sadist to completely screw that up."

She had a blank look on her face for an instant then pulled out a pen and paper and began to write. I asked her what she was doing, to which she replied, "I am writing that down so I don't forget."

She realized that there is a huge difference between Masterism and Sadism. Please let me give you an example of the disparities.

Masterism - I trained my slave not to eat without permission.

Sadism - I find ways to trick my slave to eat without permission.

One time, I held food in front of her mouth. She gave me a puppy dog look of "Is it okay?" I raised my eyebrows as if to say "yes." She opened her mouth, I placed the food in it and she began to chew. Ah ha busted!

But I am a nice Master in that I have told her, "Go by the last given verbal order." Key word here being "verbal."

Thus it has become increasingly difficult for me to ensnare her in my traps. But never fear, I have the mind of a sadist.

Another example:

Masterism - I grant you the privilege of being identified as my slave.

Sadism - I will trick you into thinking you have this privilege before you officially do just to see if I can "catch" you.

The family name of my slave is "angel in chains" which she earned through rite of passage with me. Her community name has become "slave leslie."

In an evil Sadism trick hidden behind Masterism, I wrote, "slave leslie" on a sticky note and handed it to her. I even went into her Black Rose 2002 profile and changed her identification badge to read, "slave leslie."

Mind now, I had said nothing verbally about the name change so she did not have permission to use "slave leslie."

While testing the email boxes for our web site she sent an email to my address and signed it "slave leslie." Damn I am good! Well, as a sadist and plotting schemer, that is. She fell right into my ambush.

Please understand, I do not instill any punishment with these traps. Well, there was one time when I made her eat with her fingers after she looked at me for permission and I replied "Duh." It must be noted that "duh" does not mean "you may eat."

It is for my own amusement as a sadist that I create these situations. The reminder that she must always be alert because she has a Master who is a sadist and will screw with her head any chance he gets is enough punishment.

At times my slave will get down on herself for "always screwing up." Well, it is the job of a sadist to ensure that happens. It would be my recommendation to slaves that serve under a combination of Masterism and Sadism not to take the amusement that we inflict to heart.

There is no such thing as a "perfect" slave when you have a Master who is a sadist.
